This type of blister is rather new on the market. They are an improvement of the card blister. The advantage, the blisters are like a cup and this can simply be pressed out from the week blister. But with cup blister also, only a limited amound of text fits on the label and therefore you need an extra cover sheet with all other patient specific information.
They have the same advantages to pouches:
Since the taking can be done directly from the cup, it eliminates the need for decanting in other cups.
This saves time and money.
The often quite difficult opening of the bags is eliminated and thus the risk of the tablets falling on the floor.
No hazardous waste, as the data can be disposed of separately from the cup.
The advantage to the card blister:
No trouble with pushing medications out of the cup
or cut out from the card
they are bigger
Cups can be opened individually for changes.
Disadvantage to the foil:
When medication prescribtion changes, single cups can not be produced.
Less medications in a cup blister compared with pouches.
Not all patientdata fits on the label and often an additional sheet is added to the card.
For this type of Cup blister we impart the Celia, a semi-automatic machine.
